Challenges faced by EduQuest
Challenge 1: Poor Operations Management
Starting a new center in itself is a task for an entrepreneur. That becomes more complicated when you have to rely on other person to take care of the overall operational headaches and breakdowns. The same thing happened with Eduquest as well. They started facing problems with unavailability of chairs and tables which was required for the total number of students. Not only that, they also faced issues with AC . The students had to sit in a non ac classroom in summers due to poor operations management by the actual space owner and delay in repairing AC.
Solution: Instant Solutions to the Operational Problems of EduQuest
Eduquest has been a user of SpaceBoat earlier. They understood the relevance of the overall model and decided to move back to the SpaceBoat’s premise because of the dedicated SpaceManager’s availability to them for solving operational headaches. By shifting to one of the SpaceBoat’s premise, EduQuest just had to give one call to the Space Manager at SpaceBoat and the troubleshooting was taken care of. As an instant, due to availability of multiple classrooms, Eduquest did not face any issues in conducting its classes even when the projector was to be repaired or the class was to be conducted on a different day than the actual schedule.
Challenge 2: Fixed Rentals
Due to the fixed rental model and lock in period being too long, it became difficult for EduQuest to plan it’s growth. They had to pay fixed amount every month even when they needed lesser days and hours during lean season. This was stopping the founder of EduQuest to plan multiple centers or hire more faculty and marketing team for spreading the word out.
Solution: Flexibility to increase or decrease total number of hours/month
EduQuest was very well aware of the flexibility provided by SpaceBoat when it comes to increasing or decreasing number of hours per month as per the change in number of batches. They decided to take on our space as they could save money on rentals whenever the class gets cancelled or the number of batches decrease. As a result, EduQuest has started planning for more number of centers in Delhi NCR and reach out to more students by being closer to them.
Challenge 3: EduQuest Couldn't Plan Expansion
When EduQuest started their center at Gurgaon 14, they realised they are not being able to focus on hiring more faculty due to fixed rentals pressure.They tied up with other educational institute to expand but getting standard classrooms without any operational headache was still a pressure for them. Being a pro and growth focused iinstitute, they wanted to cover most part of Delhi NCR.
Solution: Multiple locations available to open new centers
SpaceBoat has spaces available all across Delhi NCR as per the requirement of any educational institute. Being a GMAT/SAT entrance coaching institute, the requirement of EduQuest was not more than 15-20 seats per batch. Not only this, the timings were weekdays evenings and weekends morning heavy. Great thing is, we already had a good space available in Gurgaon Sec 14 for EduQuest to immediately shift their existing center to our center and solve for ther operational headaches immediately. EduQuest is currently looking for expanding in other peak areas of Gurgaon and Noida. We wish them all the best for the new centers.
