Do you remember your college days, when everyone suggested that you only need to study for few more years and then life will be super easy. You will get into decent job and vacations on beaches! I reckon, if it ever did happen? For The enthusiastic individuals, who were willing to improve and build their career and uptick their learning curve; their 9 to 6 jobs became a nightmare. First of all, people who believe their days of hard work will end with their college. Wake up! In fact, the real hard work starts with your full-time job. There are people who have already realised their true potential and are willing to give themselves a fair chance to grow and learn along with their jobs.

So, here we are, with our 5 cents to help you manage your time well, without giving up on your job or learning.

1. Remember your goal

If you are working full-time, things are going to get crazy. Feeling overwhelmed is normal. You might even want to give up on either your job or education, but, you as an individual will have to remember the end game. That’s something which will motivate you enough to keep moving in one focused direction. In those moments, remember your “why”.

2. Make good use of your commute time

Most of the working professionals have at least 35-60 minutes of commute time. In your pursuit of a great career, you need to utilise your commute time to the fullest. Listening to music or radio is good, but this will not help you balance your time well. You can utilise it to have conversation with your family members, call an old friend, connect with your mentors to get feedbacks and ideas or listen to educational podcasts/audios.

Another good use of your commute time could be planning your next day work and follow it religiously to achieve your goals quicker.

3. Choose your sacrifices wisely

It is easier said than done! All of your friends are partying on the weekends but you are waking up early in the morning to attend your classes or to learn new skills. Not easy! No one said it will be. But, if you are driven and you know what you are upto, you will never step back.

You will need to choose in between one hour of Netflix or one hour of focused upskilling. Don’t give up on family time and workout or yoga, since that is a critical part of your life. Be a good decision maker!

4. Get things done, one step at a time

You can’t do everything all at once. You have a “50 things to do” list. But, learn to prioritise. Prioritise things which will get you closer to your goal, at work or outside work. Set your top 5 and get it done. Everything is important but understand the capability of a brain and plan accordingly. Don’t overwhelm yourself as it will only lead to dissatisfaction and  procrastination.

Keeping track of time will always help you perform better on all grounds of life. Monitor your performance and day spent on daily basis, change your plans accordingly till you become expert at better time management and get more things done.
